A redacted PDF won't save
Updated 6 Aug 2026 · Applies to Omitly 2.3.4+ · macOS (Apple silicon) & Windows
If Apply & verify fails to write the output, it’s almost always about where you’re saving, not the redaction itself. Your marks aren’t lost — fix the cause and try again.
Things to check
- Save somewhere you can write. Some locations (a read-only volume, another app’s managed folder, a mounted network share) may not accept new files. Try saving to your Desktop or Documents folder first.
- Free disk space. A large document needs room for the redacted copy.
- The file isn’t open elsewhere. If the original or a previous redacted copy is open in another app, close it and try again.
- The destination folder isn’t locked. Omitly defaults to saving alongside the original, under a different name; make sure that folder is writable, or redirect the save dialog to somewhere that is.
Still failing?
Note the exact wording of the error and contact support with your Omitly version and OS. Your original document is unchanged, so you can re-open it and try again to a different location in the meantime.
