Review your redactions before saving

Because Omitly removes the underlying content when you click Apply & verify, the output has no hidden layer to recover from. That’s the point — but it means the moment to check your work is before you click it, not after.

What to check

• Every sensitive item is marked. Scan each page — names, addresses, account numbers, signatures, anything in images as well as text.
• Marks cover the whole item. A partly covered number or name still leaks.
• You haven’t marked something you meant to keep. Removal happens when you apply.

Working copies

The original file on disk is never modified — clicking Apply & verify always writes a new, separate file (defaulting to alongside the original, under a different name; you can redirect it elsewhere in the save dialog). If you spot a mistake before you click it, just adjust the marks. Once you’ve applied, that output’s removed content is genuinely absent from the file — re-do it from the original if you need to change what was redacted.
